I'm too young to really miss old matches, and I don't remember any with blue tips (actually, I thought you were referring to some sporting event). I never used the blue tips, but I did have some strike anywhere matches when I was a very young pyromaniac.

I guess I'm getin old. They were a very good match, they lit every time, you could light them off of your jeans, and they burned for a long time, with a nice flame. Now days to get that you have to spend like 2.50-3.00 dollars for as small box of some fancy matches.I want the world I grew up in back.

You're killin me... I was excited yesterday when I found that my local grocer carried these again.  I bought a three pack of the big boxes, but haven't opened them yet.

I remember the blue tips, but don't think I personally ever used them.

Yes, I miss the ole blue tips. I miss grooming my thumb nails with a rough hook to get them started.
My levis miss them too. Miss the long swipes up tht thigh seam. Miss the short swipes on the zipper.

Since I've never heard of them, I have to say no.

Can't find any Strike Anywhere matches where I live.  I can't even remember the last time I used the Strike Anywhere matches.

The Diamond strike on box matches are ok. I recently found Penley strike anywhere matches at Rural King. I like these much better.

i miss 'em--you could actually get a good light on your pipe before the flame was gone--today's matches not only have to be struck at a certain place, the wood seems to be treated with a flame retardant which causes them to become extinguished upon any pretext--ALWAYS before the char light is anywhere near complete--

like the other guy above, i want my old world back: good matches and no tobacco nazis Sad

When I was a kid living in London, we had Swan Vesta strike anywhere matches...probably long gone like the Ohio blue tips.

Just checked and they're still available! How can they still be had over there and not here?!
